Since ARTIQ’s foundation in 2009, we have paid over £2 million to artists, working with our clients to support the development of a sustainable arts economy and to provide crucial financial support for a wealth of creative talent. Earlier this year we were delighted to reach a considerable milestone for the arts team, welcoming our 200th artist to the ARTIQ roster.

To celebrate this milestone we are delighted to launch ARTIQ Meet the Artists, a year-long series of in-depth artist interviews designed to provide our clients with an exclusive look behind the scenes of the art in their collection and the opportunity to discover what drives the creative behind the work. The series will showcase a selection of ARTIQ artists working across a diverse array of mediums and theme, creating outstanding work at differing stages of their careers and reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of an artist’s practice.

For the first in the series we visited the home studio of painter and winner of ARTIQ’s The Graduate Art Prize 2017, Charlotte Aiken. Charlotte works with paint to respond to the world around her, looking to the sky to reflect her state of mind and the ever-changing atmosphere.
Graduating from The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design in 2017, we visit Charlotte at a pivotal stage in her early career as she reflects on her first steps navigating the art world, from finding a studio to remembering to always do what you love.
