ARTIQ worked alongside designers Oktra and Camilla Wallace & Emma Loveday (partners at Wedlake Bell) to commission a set of works for the new Wedlake Bell offices in central London.
ARTIQ’s art consultant Marcus Aitken started the process by researching different options for the large walk way, building on Wedlake Bell’s brief. Wedlake Bell had a desire to create a feature that would create a journey of passing through the seasons seen in work by the artist Mark Maxwell.
Wedlake Bell wanted a traditional landscape as the subject matter whilst using contemporary media such as aluminium with the aim of mirroring the firm’s general approach. There was also a request to bring “nature” inside through the design, given both the location of the office and the ultramodern aspect of its glass and steel design.
The team commissioned Mark Maxwell to work on the project, working alongside Oktra to build around the artworks to create unique and built for purpose “art alcoves”.
The walk way continues to be the talking point in Wedlake Bell’s stunning new office.
