Project: WeWork Devonshire Square
WeWork Devonshire Square is a community of entrepreneurs and businesses spanning collaborative workspaces across the estate. Situated moments away from Spitalfields Market and the creative hub of Shoreditch, ARTIQ Lead Art Consultant, Tazie Taysom worked closely with WeWork to develop a series of eye catching sculptures for the central courtyard.
Tazie sourced a series of artworks by sculptor Sam Shendi. Born in Egypt and now living and working in London, Sam’s work uses minimalism, abstraction and representation to explore the essence of human nature, paring-down elements and focussing on the medium of steel, aluminium and paint to encourage the viewer to centre on the emotion, expression and form of what it is to be human.
Featuring a trio of sculptures, the collection both embeds and juxtaposes with the space, adding a playful intervention to the courtyard and vividly reflecting the innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and diversity of the WeWork community.
The collection is part of ARTIQ’s innovative art rental model, enabling the client to regularly rotate their artwork throughout the year. WeWork Devonshire Square is the first site of what has now become a diverse portfolio of projects with ARTIQ and WeWork.
