Assembling a team to lead our next stage of growth.
Assembling a team to lead our next stage of growth.
We have made several changes to the composition of our company’s board as we assemble a team to lead our next stage of growth.
Artiq was founded in 2009 to create a more sustainable art economy for emerging artists and to bring culture into more corporate and hospitality spaces. We are now a team of 45 people, operating in almost 30 countries and delivering large scale projects for clients including: international and local hotels such as Italy’s Belmond Splendido Mare and London’s OWO, corporate workplaces of law firms and investment firms such as EQT and Kingsley Napley LLP, living spaces, and student accommodation. This continued growth means that in the last three years, we have paid more than £7m to artists and makers.
We recently completed projects in the US and across Southern Europe in Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The changes at board level will help to drive further international expansion across these markets, and into new markets like Asia, as we continue our mission to create a circular economy that benefits local artists while deepening the connection between local communities and their culture.
The board changes include:
Our Founder and CEO Patrick McCrae becomes Artiq Chairman, a more externally-facing role focusing on opening up new markets, driving further growth, and operating as an ambassador for the business.
Tazie Taysom continues in her role as Commercial Director on our board. She leads our commercial strategy and oversees all client relationships across sectors including hospitality, commercial, residential, universities, and public spaces.
Sarah Rafati Howard joins our board as Managing Director and will be responsible for Business performance, Arts, Operations, and People & Culture. She was previously MD of an international division of a FTSE 250 company, leading high-growth teams across the UK and USA with a background in growing global brands in the interior design market.
Beth Fleming joins our board as Curatorial Arts Director. Beth plays a pivotal role in shaping the curatorial direction of our projects with clients, and is crucial to cultivating our network of creative practitioners around the globe.
Dominic Tutt joins our board as a Non Executive Director, bringing a wealth of experience in building and managing businesses in the real estate industry. He has worked on some of Europe’s largest building complexes, including the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm. Dominic will be a key advisor as we scale.
Don McCrae remains on our board as Finance Director. Don co-founded Artiq in 2009 and remains actively involved in company operations, ensuring rigour and professionalism in all aspects of ongoing financial management and business strategy.
Speaking about this exciting new stage in Artiq's journey, Patrick McCrae, Chair of Artiq, said:
“I’m incredibly proud of the journey we have been on, and these latest changes to the structure of our board will set us up for our next stage of growth. Having assembled an exceptional team at Artiq, we are now looking to expand further with new hires at every level of the business.
We have always remained true to our commitment to working with local artists who understand that art and culture should always reflect the locale. Paying £7m to artists and creators in the past three years is testament to the hard work of our talented team and the unique identity we have built for Artiq.
I’m also grateful to all of our partners and clients who are helping to create a sustainable economy for exciting emerging artists as we expand our reach around the world. Everyone at Artiq is excited to continue this journey and to bring culture to more places and more people.”
