Inspired by the textiles, landscapes and nature of her hometown of Monterrey, Mexico, Ana Benavides is an artist born with colour. She characterises her practice by texture, gesture, and colour, and having grown up in Mexico, she is well acquainted with all three. Her compositions are created through gestural brush marks, using her body, that are intuitively constructed and emotionally charged.

Having studied a BA in Advertising and Marketing followed by an MA in Painting at the RCA, her practice has journeyed from pop art influences to, more recently, experimenting and creating abstract works with emotional, spiritual and energetic intensity.
