Caroline Jane Harris is a London-based artist working across printmaking, paper-cutting and photo-etching. Her practice often begins with images of the natural world, captured digitally before being transformed by the meticulous, hand-cut removal of individual pixels.
Trained in fine art printmaking, Harris treats cutting as a form of printmaking in its own right: an irreversible, accountable act in which nothing can be undone or replaced. She works extensively with paper, drawing on its cultural and material history, choosing fibres and stock for how their physical qualities can mirror or extend the subject of the image.
