Jacob Wolff lives and works in London. Since 2008, he has developed a distinctive painting process using shards of glass and spray paint. Working on wax paper, he transfers layers of pigment onto panel, a method that allows for both precision and unpredictability. As a child, he was captivated by the stained glass windows of Winchester Cathedral, an early encounter with light, colour, and pattern that continues to resonate in his work.
His studio practice is deeply meditative. In the spray booth, his gestures become rhythmic and repetitive, a choreography of movement that mirrors the layered complexity of his finished paintings. Jacob seeks to translate this immersive, temporal experience to the viewer, creating works that invite sustained engagement, reflection, and quiet contemplation.
