KV Duong is a London-based artist who examines the Vietnamese queer identity through painting, performance, sculpture, and installation. Raised in Canada and born to Vietnamese Chinese parents displaced by the Vietnam War, he explores themes of migration, cultural assimilation, and personal history.
Utilising his body, found objects, and materials of personal significance, KV creates imagined landscapes that reflect his heritage. The surfaces of his works are intentionally corrupted—ripped, scratched, and painted over—to evoke the trauma of war and migration. This disruption emphasizes the tension between object and subject and retells a history that has been distorted through media censorship.
KV holds a Master’s in Structural Engineering and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art. He has participated in numerous artist talks and panel discussions at institutions such as the Migration Museum, Museum of The Home, and Queer Britain. His work continues to offer a profound examination of identity and history through a deeply personal and innovative lens.
