Samira Addo explores portraiture as a space for examining identity, emotion and the shared nuances of human experience

Samira Addo is a London-based self-taught artist whose practice centres on contemporary portraiture. Working primarily in oil paint, she explores identity, emotion and the social dynamics that shape human experience.
Inspired by subtle shifts in facial expression, chromatic contrasts and geometric composition, Samira combines careful observation with expressive mark-making to create portraits that balance realism with painterly abstraction. Personal experiences, friendships and travel inform her subjects, alongside a commitment to representing the diversity of contemporary life.
