Bespoke tailors Huntsman celebrate female craftsmanship for the 7th edition of Art In Mayfair.
Mayfair is, in many ways, the heart of creativity in central London. One of the world's most iconic and dynamic art districts, it is also home to world-leading fashion houses, tailors, and fine jewellers. Timed to coincide with the annual Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, Art In Mayfair is a month-long creative showcase blending fashion, art, and culture in the city. It creates a platform for exciting collaborations between artists and brands, showcasing a range of installations: art windows and façades, exhibitions and workshops, parties, and events.
We are thrilled to partner with Huntsman Savile Row for the 7th edition of Art In Mayfair. Huntsman is a bespoke tailor with a history spanning 175 years, making the most extraordinary clothes for discerning gentlemen and ladies. Priding themselves on their heritage and reputation as one of the finest and most long-standing yet innovative bespoke houses on Savile Row, for this year's edition of Art in Mayfair, they are celebrating the power of female creativity. As part of this celebration, a painting by contemporary artist Yuliya Martynova is exhibited in their storefront.
Growing up between the leafy hills and lakes of northern Kazakhstan and the industrial town on the Caspian coast where she was born, Yuliya Martynova now lives and works in the UK. Working in a range of media, Yuliya's artistic practice is deeply personal and can be interpreted as an internal journey and escape from reality. Using the natural environment to depict emotional states and human behaviours is a recurring theme: past works have explored ideas of fragility and strength through skyscapes, isolation through depictions of the sea, urban crowd dynamics through geometric abstractions, and most recently, the cyclical nature of florals, of which the currently exhibited work at Huntsman is a part.
