This spring, our team had the immense pleasure of commissioning a series of bespoke sculptures on behalf of EQT, a purpose-driven global investment organisation whose art strategy reflects its commitment to supporting local talent and striving for sustainability.
Correlating with an extensive refurbishment, EQT wanted to give a platform to an artist whose practice reflects their mission, allowing them a 12-month residency and exhibition at their Soho premises.
For the inaugural residency at EQT London, local artist James Rogers was selected to create an immersive installation for The Exhibition Plaza that celebrates the implementation of emerging digital technologies into the art-making process; a node to EQTs mission to ensure that they, and the EQT funds' portfolio companies, are digital leaders in their respective industries.
James is a Camberwell College of Arts graduate from Wolverhampton, currently living and working in London. His work explores figuration in the post-digital realm, searching for a moment of transformation between his self-built technologies and the craftsmanship between them, exploring the emerging digital/physical landscape.
Visiting James in his Brixton studio earlier this year, we got to see the commission come to life and learned more about James' creative journey, from early research to final piece. Watch Artiq Presents: James Rogers below:
