Celebrating Pride 2024, we are thrilled to have worked on Cooley’s Pride Month exhibition, ‘Informed Practice: Queerness under (and over) the radar’.
Working closely with the global law firm’s art committee, this exhibition showcases the work of eight queer artists from Artiq’s network. Focussing on the artistic process, it explores how an artist’s material practice is shaped by their lived experiences. For the participating artists, these experiences are inherently, though not exclusively, influenced by their queer identities.

Cooley’s inclusive and thoughtful approach to defining queer art has resulted in a collection that spans a diverse range of mediums and materials and represents a cross-generational selection of artists. Figurative works by Kevin Anaafi-Brown, Gavin Dobson, Elio Mercer and Traf Alagar provide contemporary interpretations of masculinity, while abstract works by Carl Fox, Kristina Chan and Sophie Anne Wyth illustrate how queerness permeates an artist’s perception of the world around them.
To explore these themes in further depth, the exhibition included a panel talk hosted by Artiq Curator Isaac Huxtable. By facilitating this authentic conversation, Cooley has provided a space in which our artists can express their unique voices.

Our outstanding collection for Cooley includes a mix of both rented and purchased artworks, with select pieces from this pop-up exhibition to be integrated into their permanent collection at the end of the exhibition. This initiative passes the baton from a previous exhibition in which Cooley highlighted the work of black artists in celebration of Black History Month.
Alongside past exhibitions, ‘Informed Practice: Queerness under (and over) the radar’
exemplifies Cooley’s unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion. By championing the voices and careers of emerging minority artists, Cooley has woven diversity into the fabric of their corporate culture, celebrating differences in a compelling and meaningful way.
